more) There are many country specific requirements on the safety data sheet that are dictated by the GHS adaptation for the country in question. In order to author your SDS, it is essential that you gather the following information so that you have it to create your compliant SDSs.

  • Country specific GHS classifications for each component
  • Copy of the country regulations to guide you through the classification decision trees, so that you can use current data to calculate both the component hazards as well as the product hazards.
  • Relevant Pictograms based on classification results.
  • Signal word, Hazard phrases and precautionary statements based on classifications
  • First aid requirements for the product
  • Fire extinguishing requirements for the product
  • Storage and handling requirements for the product
  • Relevant protective equipment required for the product
  • Occupational exposure limits for the country in question for each component
  • Chemical and physical data for the product, such as color, odor, pH, boiling point, flash point etc
  • Toxicology data for the components and the product where available
  • Ecotoxicology data for the components and the product where available
  • Transport data for the product such as UN numbers, shipping names
  • Regulatory list data for the components, such as Prop 65, New Jersey Right to know, TSCA, SARA 311, 312, 313, EPCRA data, REACH data.
